So, Juno and I have been trying to hit the trails every day for at least an hour. Last week was pretty rainy and she also ate a whole tulip which made her tummy upset, so we only made it out 2 days through the week. Last night, we did our usual 6 km walk. It was drizzling a little but but nothing bad and it was warm so it was all good. I spent the whole walk trying to control her as she would not stop pulling. It was very hard on both of us. So, when we got to the car, I though getting her fitted for a harness might be the best move. She was pulling so much that she was choking. I would call her back and get her to walk to heal with the help of some treats, but that only lasted until I had nothing in my hand and then she was off again. So, off we went to the pet shop. They recommended the easy walk harness which has a fron leash loop instead of a back leash loop, so correcting her is a lot easier. Well, what a difference it made today. She tried to pull a few time and as soon as she felt the harness, she backed off. It was a much more enjoyable walk. Due to her body shape, the fit isnt quite right and I am still working on adjusting it 100%, but a lot of it is because her chest isnt that big yet and that is where the main control is. As she didnt pull when she felt the harness, I am not too worried about the fit as long as it isnt tight or too loose that it will chafe her skin, I am happy. I hope using this will teach her some leash manners and that by the time she outgrows it, she wont need it any more.
Anyone else ever tried a harness with their Springers?
